Hi there, my name is Tammie, thanks for your interest in the GBU Paramedic books.
I’m an Australian author, passionate about professionalism and patient care in every prehospital setting, with experience in a range of hands-on and educational roles. From emergency ambulance paramedic, preceptor, mentor, clinical trainer, clinical support paramedic, university lecturer and course co-ordinator through to emergency management roles. At every step of the way I have been, and still am, fortunate to teach and continually learn from countless colleagues worldwide.
For the duration of the academic journey from undergraduate to postgraduate qualifications in intensive care paramedicine, and a master’s degree in critical care, my enthusiasm has steadily increased. Along with a fascination for the cultural chatter around human-centred approaches and attitudes within EMS and emergency response.
Over a decade’s worth of scribbled notes from conversations with medics and students have been gathered together in the GBU Paramedic series of books. Written to provide effortless tools for self-reflection in every paramedic with a desire to excel in such a rewarding role.
My approach to paramedicine and its unique challenges is conversational, inclusive and realistic. With the simple goal of encouraging every reader to remain proactive in making their chosen careers successful, satisfying and above all, safe. I hope you enjoy the articles, books and the archived blog posts available on this site.
